The advanced therapies for cardiac regeneration and cardiac structural pathology group at Hospital San Carlos consist of cardiologists and cell biologists (4 professionals in total). The team aims to accomplish clinical and translational research in advanced cardiac pathologies. On the one hand. The group members are experts on the procurement, isolation and administration of stem cells into the heart in patients without other therapeutic options. But it has also specialized in new percutaneous intracardiac devices for the treatment of valvular heart disease or heart failure. The ultimate goal is to improve symptoms and prognosis in patients presenting high morbidity and mortality. The members of the group are experts in the cell therapy field and in the percutaneous treatment of valvular heart disease and have broad experience in development of randomized clinical trials.
The team aims to accomplish translational research in cell therapy in order to demonstrate the safety, feasibility and efficacy of this new therapeutic alternative in patients with advanced cardiovascular disease without anyother therapeutic options. Dr. Pilar Jiménez Quevedo has a Licentiate degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Navarra University (1991-1997). Doctor cum laude in Medicine and Surgery from the Complutense University of Madrid (2007). Specialist in Cardiology at the Cardiology Department of the Hospital Universitario San Carlos de Madrid (1998-2003). Master in Interventional Cardiology 2003-2005 by the Complutense University of Madrid. Cardiology Research Fellow at the Texas Heart Institute, Houston, EEUU during 2005-2006.
From 2006 to the present he has been working in the Haemodynamics and Interventional Cardiology Unit of the Hospital Universitario San Carlos de Madrid. Tutor of cardiology residents. Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, Member of the Board of Directors of the Section of Interventional Cardiology from 2015 to 2017.
Master’s degree in Clinical Unit Management from the Universidad de Murcia. H index: 46. 200 articles in indexed publications and more than 200 conference papers.
