The Clinical Pharmacology group was created from the staff of the department of the same name. It has been conducting research in the field of medicines for more than 20 years. It uses experimental and observational methods applied to humans, as well as pharmacokinetic and response and/or economic modelling techniques.
It has thus developed a large number of Phase I to IV clinical trials, in healthy volunteers and also in patients, in collaboration with other departments. Likewise, it has carried out numerous studies on the Use of Medicines, as well as on the evaluation of the Safety, Use and/or Economic Evaluation of Medicines, with which he has tried to maximise both the scientific results and the profitability of the knowledge for the Health System and the patient, giving rise to publications, doctoral theses, guidelines for use, recommendations, evaluation, and control measures, etc. On the other hand, it has acquired a high degree of experience and knowledge in the bioethical and regulatory area related to research, development, and registration of new medicines. This part contributes greatly to improving the orientation of human drug research, and maximising the scientific cost-effectiveness and future applicability of knowledge.
