The Health Research Institute (Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria) of the Hospital Clínico San Carlos is committed to research as one of the fundamental pillars of its activity.
The Hospital Clínico San Carlos has two Research Ethics Committees responsible for evaluating any research project involving humans (Ethics Committee for Research involving medicinal products – IECm) or animals (Committee on Animal Ethics and Welfare – CAEW) carried out at the centre.
In turn, the Biomedical Research Foundation (Fundación de Investigación Biomédica) collaborates in research through several transversal support units, including the Clinical Trials Coordination Unit, which is responsible for processing the registration process, providing administrative support in the evaluation of the different research projects, and monitoring the development of authorised clinical studies.
