The UICEC-HCSC was established in 2009 from the CAIBER consortium and has since been part of consortia (CAIBER 2009-2013) and Research Support Platforms (PT13/002, PT17/0017/0003, PT13/002/0003; PT17/0017/0018, PT20/00017, and PT23/00162) of ISCIII. Since its inception, it has been defined as a cross-sectional research support unit of the ldlSSC and collaborates with other support units and the FIB Technical Unit, working in partnership with them. It currently has staff supported by ISCIII as well as its own personnel, steadily growing in activities, competencies, staff, and quality. It has become a reference point within the center and a key success factor in the generation of projects, application, development, and execution of academic clinical research.
